Chameleon Arts Ensemble: where past and future meet

  • First Church in Boston 66 Marlborough Street Boston, MA, 02116 United States (map)

Program

  • Richard Strauss, Sonata in F Major for cello & piano, Op. 6
  • Earl Kim, Now and Then for soprano, flute, viola & harp

Some of the most fascinating works of art come at a turning point, a pivotal moment in the artist’s development. Strauss’ early sonata foreshadows his heroic voice, and the Chamber Symphony is a major signpost in Schoenberg’s stylistic evolution, pushing tonal harmony to its limit. Beethoven’s coming-out statement represents both the apex of Classical models and the starting point for his high drama to come.
